About Us

Math Circles of Chicago is unique in its approach to helping children develop a passion for mathematics. MC2 provides free, unique math enrichment programs outside of regular school hours and across Chicago for 5th - 12th grade students of diverse backgrounds with the goal of equipping children to excel in STEM fields in college and beyond.

The learning in math circles goes far beyond studying to Common Core standards or prepping for ACT or advanced placement exams, which can be tedious, rote and overwhelming. MC2 gives children a different experience, one where they see mathematics as empowering. By participating in math circles, children’s self-identity shifts so that they see themselves as doers of math, ‘enjoyers’ of math.

Math Circles of Chicago’s curriculum is exploratory and engaging via lesson plans that are cooperative, fun, and accessible to all. Children learn that math is challenging yet exciting, an opportunity rather than an obligation, and something to be considered intrinsically worthy for future study.
